Luc Bissonnette A surprising prog metal album with adventurous 70s-like retro synthesizer swings! Enigmatic indeed... Favorite track: The Shadow Out of Time.

The Collapse 09:27
Verse My name is Nathaniel, you must’ve heard of me The press was filled with the details of my strange amnesia from 1908 to 13 A shadow fell upon me from the lurking past Verse The collapse occurred while I was conducting a class and I had a singular feeling that I have no remembrance of my identity and past Years and years of vivid nightmares Chorus Something unnamed assaults my mind The strangest shapes before my eyes My past is slipping from my grasp As I struggle to understand Bridge Then the odd travels had started I’d spent a month in the mountains A camel trip in the unknown deserts I’d spent weeks alone beyond the explored parts in the vast limestone caverns of western Virginia Contacted with leaders of unnamed occultist groups What happened on those journeys Was never revealed for me What happened on those journeys No one hardly can believe I had thirst for all the knowledge of our time My own withered to foreign and numb I’d seen the future and past at once What happened on those journeys is better be untold Chorus Creatures from the future and past Exchanged my soul, I was not even myself After 5 years, my consciousness returned A spirit had came back in whose time scale it was still Thursday morning in 1908...

Verse For five years I’ve been a slave My mind cruelly displaced A frightening exchange My dreams seemed to grow in vividness and fear Memories of unknown lands I’ve never been there I've seen cyclopean corridors of stone And never-opened trapdoors holding perils unknown I searched distant libraries to read the hideous books about the greatest race of all because it alone had conquered Chorus the secret of time Harvesting minds They knew all things that ever were known or ever would be known on the earth The secret of time Verse Within the dreams I was one of them Million years before the man I was writing all the time The stories of my time for them To expand the archives with knowledge of all times Chorus Amongst keen minds from all eras I shivered at the mysteries the past may conceal and trembled at the threats the future may reveal
3.
Verse I curse my newly gained clairvoyance 'cause cone-shaped beings make their appearance Their monstrous outlines clouded by vapor Scaly, iridescent, ten feet tall at the base, they were me Chorus We are the Great Race, who peopled the Earth Casting their minds into the past and forth Verse Untold stories of different histories Their tomes are the source of prophecies Horrible archives and frightful chronicles Written by scissored tentacles Chorus Ancient conquerors of time and hidden lore Safeguarding vast knowledge aeons old Verse Swarming and scraping in their cyclopean city They observe the infinity of time and space Chorus They are the Great Race, who peopled the Earth Casting their minds into the past and forth
4.
Verse I prepared articles about my experiences These appeared at psychological magazines And then a letter was forwarded to me From Western Australia, from a mining engineer My Dear Sir, I've read about your story I have seen things in the Desert I have come upon something important The natives always mentioned those great stones in the sands, with marks on them and their terrible fear of 'em Pre-chorus Old tales about huts of stone below where passages lead down and down Two years ago I saw those ruins in the sand They were the same that you dreamed about Chorus We faced with the remains of an unknown civilization Older than any dreamed of before I must know the truth... Verse Can it be that my visions were real? And we're not the first, and not the last on this Earth I'm gonna lead an expedition to the south My son will accompany me and professors from the University Pre-Chorus We left Boston on March 28. A trip across the Atlantic with the fear of what we're gonna see Two months later we saw the first half-buried blocks Then we started digging...

Verse Night after night I was searching through the desert And finally, some ruins of stone were revealed in the sands At that hideous night unnatural winds shrieked from the underground huts what the tales told about I started my descent to the abyss where the walls seemed so familiar At moments I fancied I saw those cone shaped beings Why did I know the way so well? I was terrified, but driven by scientific zeal Then I encountered a yawning black rift Verse I was leaping and stumbling towards the central archives where all the proofs awaited me to see if my visions were real At the lowest level I feared to pass a room where those trapdoors gaped without any guards I prayed to wake up from this hellish nightmare but then I reached why I came here Verse The Archives... Where all the knowledge of aeons lie Rows of shelves... I've been here many times I know where I can find the book what I've written when I was here, aeons ago but not in my own body! Can I? Can I climb high enough? To reach the upper shelf where the metal case dwells That holds the proof for my story of exchanged minds If I make it out alive... Will anyone believe me? What if I became insane? Chorus We're tiny motes in the winds of time a short chapter in our planet's life We know nothing about ourselves and the goals what our fate tells Some old and wise occupied my mind I got engulfed by a shadow out of time Verse I had to carry this thing back to the outer world Tried to move silently as I had to pass again through that trapdoor room But the metal case fell with disturbing clatter It became my undoing... I heard a shrill, whistling sound, like nothing else on earth Verse Strange winds came Hindering my way This is not real and I’m not here I reached the black rift and leaped frenziedly Then the blackness engulfed me Verse I woke up in the desert night, shrieking winds around me I was clawing prone through the sands But the metal case was gone missing I raised my head, and looked behind me and only saw some desert dunes Was it real or nightmare? I was trying to get back to the camp Verse No eye had seen, no hand had touched that book since the advent of man to this planet And when I flashed my torch upon it in that frightful abyss I saw that the letters were not any nameless hieroglyphs of earth's youth Verse They were, instead the letters of our familiar alphabet spelling out the words of the English language in my own handwriting...
